Season 10 of Diablo 4 is here, and one of the most common questions from players is: What’s the best class to lock in and play this season? With the PTR wrapped up, we finally have a good picture of what’s strong, what’s struggling, and which builds are pushing the highest Pit tiers and tearing through the new Infernal Hordes content.

This article compiles data from PTR testing, high-level gameplay clears, and community contributions. Keep in mind: balance is always subject to change, especially when bugged interactions are involved. Still, this gives us the most realistic snapshot of Season 10’s meta so far.

The Importance of Infernal Hordes in Season 10

Before diving into tier lists, it’s important to highlight the Infernal Hordes, Season 10’s new endgame feature.

    • This mode is mandatory if you want to farm the new Chaos Uniques.
    • Builds with strong AoE clearing and speed will dominate here.
    • Classes that rely on slower, single-target mechanics—such as certain Barb setups—will struggle compared to Sorcerer or Necromancer builds that can wipe screens in seconds.

The Current Top Builds in Season 10

    1. Raven’s Druid (Pit 150 Clear – Bugged but Dominant)

The standout of Season 10’s PTR. A Raven-based Druid build was able to clear Pit 150, though bugged multipliers inflated damage numbers to absurd levels. Even without bugs, the build remains strong in both Pit pushing and Infernal Hordes thanks to its effortless AoE. Outlook: Expect nerfs, but it should remain an A/S-tier option.

    2. Blood Wave Necromancer

Despite countless nerfs over the past seasons, Blood Wave Necro still sits near the top. Cleared some of the highest Pit tiers without relying on bugs. Massive AoE, strong boss damage, and consistent performance in Infernal Hordes. Outlook: Still one of the safest powerhouse builds for Season 10.

    3. Tornado / Shadow Storm Necromancer

A newer build that spams tornado-like projectiles, shredding everything on screen. Extremely effective in Infernal Hordes, where objective clearing speed matters. Probably due for small tweaks, but the concept is here to stay. Outlook: Necro is in an excellent spot overall, with multiple high-tier archetypes.

    Super Ball Lightning Sorcerer

    • A souped-up version of Ball Lightning that abuses multipliers and activation effects.
    • Immense AoE, fast movement (thanks to Teleport), and versatile scaling with Chaos Uniques.
    • Sorcerer also has Hydra, Crackling Energy, and Fireball builds that all perform at a high level.
    • Outlook: Arguably the best overall class in Season 10. Any core skill can dominate.

    Hydra Sorcerer

    • Another reliable top-tier Sorc option.
    • Solid for both Pit pushing and Infernal Horde farming.
    • Benefits from Sorc’s fastest map mobility in the game.
    • Outlook: A more beginner-friendly choice than Ball Lightning, but still elite.

    Spiritborn Variants

    • Several Spiritborn builds (Stinger, Evade, Spirit Potency scaling, etc.) cleared Tier 100+.
    • The class has flexibility with Chaos Uniques like Loyalty’s Mantle and Wuukpa, making multiple skills viable.
    • Outlook: A dark horse class this season with lots of viable experimentation.

    HOTA Barbarian

    • Still playable, but slow.
    • Able to clear ~100–110 Pits, though squishier than expected.
    • Has an auto-cast shout version for more casual play.
    • Outlook: Serviceable, but Barb is weak in Infernal Hordes due to a lack of fast AoE.

Rogue (Rapid Fire, Death Trap, Flurry)

    • Unfortunately, Rogue looks to be Season 10’s weakest class.
    • Builds feel clunky, damage is lacking, and seasonal powers don’t synergize well.
    • Rapid Fire and Death Trap can perform, but they lag far behind Sorc/Necro/Druid clears.
    • Outlook: Skip Rogue this season unless you’re a diehard fan.

    Recommended Tier List (Season 10)

Based on performance in both Pit pushing and Infernal Hordes farming, here’s where classes stand:

    S-Tier

    • Sorcerer – Fireball, Ball Lightning, Hydra, Crackling Energy (fastest clear + strongest AoE)
    • Necromancer – Blood Wave, Tornado Storm (massive DPS, high clears)

    A-Tier

    • Druid – Raven (bugged, but still strong post-nerf), Flurry/Shred for speed farming
    • Spiritborn – Multiple builds look promising with Chaos Uniques

    B-Tier

    • Barbarian – HOTA and Weapon Throw capable of 100+ clears, but weak in Hordes

    C-Tier

    • Rogue – Underpowered powers, clunky rotations, weakest Chaos synergy

    Fun Factor Tier List

If you care less about leaderboard pushes and more about fun, here’s the “play for joy” tiering:

    • Sorc – Infinite creativity with skill ranks, Fireball chains are insanely fun
    • Druid – Tons of build variety with Earth, Storm, Werebear, and Werewolf options
    • Necro – Still satisfying to flood the screen with waves and storms
    • Spiritborn – Experimental and fresh
    • Barb – Chill autocast builds available, but slower
    • Rogue – Clunky and underwhelming

    Final Thoughts

If you’re asking, “What’s the best class to play in Diablo 4 Season 10?” the answer is simple:

    • Play Sorcerer if you want the fastest clears and most dominance across all content.
    • Play Necro if you want raw power and multiple top-tier options.
    • Play Druid or Spiritborn if you like experimenting with versatile builds.
    • Skip Rogue this season—it’s sadly in the worst spot.

Personally, I’ll be starting with Sorcerer for Season 10. Its blend of speed, flexibility, and raw power makes it the most well-rounded choice. But at the end of the day, the best class is the one you enjoy the most—so choose what sounds fun for you.
